Exciting first production run of 50 frames (with pictures)

We are proud to announce that we successfully welded the first 44 Twin frames out of 6061 aluminum. The parts fit together well and have passed quality insurance.

The frame consists of 4 individual parts . This design allow the end user to break down the bike for easy transportation.

After this we ran cycling tests on one of the frames to make sure the bikes meet safety and longevity standards. The first setup you can see in the movie below. It finished successfully with no visible cracking or deformation.

Also the software for the bike has been finalized. The menu on the display will allow users to:

  • Set a pin code that needs to be entered each time you start the bike (anti theft)
  • Set your drive mode in 5 stages (from “Eco comfort” to “Super sport”)
  • Set the maximum bike speed when pedaling.
  • Set the maximum speed when using the optional throttle (for legal reasons, Alberta for example only allows walk assist -6 km/h for e-bikes )
  • Set the reverse speed
  • Set the electronic brake strength.
  • Activate battery deep cycle mode so you can get that last little drop of energy out of your battery in case you ever need it.
  • Activate downhill speed control. This will actively try to keep the bike from going over its maximum speed on a downhill. (Once the battery is fully charged, this feature will no longer work as the controller can not store the energy anywhere).
  • Set the uphill assist level; Once the bike speed drops below a speed selected by the user this will give an extra selectable amount of assistance.

Whats next?

Currently we’re working on a power bench / dynamo bench to determine its efficiency and hauling capacity:

Project update

As we are frequently testing our bike prototype on the SE Calgary pathways, we receive lots of great advice, feedback and encouraging words from other outdoors people. Thank you all for support! It keeps us going.

For all of those with questions, here some words on the status of the project:

Last summer we had the prototype ready and have since been testing it. It has 1200km on its counter and it has been very exiting to test the bike.

At this time we are working on the first production run of 50 twin bikes. We are at the last stage of milling up parts and soon the welding will begin. We hope to have 2 to 5 bikes ready by September for initial customer testing. Once ready we will likely start renting these first bikes out in our local community, that way the local community gets a chance to enjoy a one of a kind product during these trying times.

If you are interested, please feel free to subscribe on this page to our product updates.

The initial thought behind the “Twin Bike” was helping people who can not ride a regular bike enjoying the pathways. If you feel like you fall in this category and would like to receive updates, you can also subscribe and add some information about your needs. That way we can get in touch with you and let you know if the bike could be a good fit for your needs.

Best regards and stay healthy,
